Minecraft is a sandbox video game originally created by Swedish game designer Markus "Notch" Persson, and developed and printed by Mojang later. In September 2014, Microsoft declared a deal to buy Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion, with the acquisition later being completed 8 weeks.

Minecraft is a three-dimensional sandbox game that has no specific goals for the player to accomplish, allowing players a great amount of liberty in choosing how to experiment with the gameHowever, there can be an achievements system. Gameplay by default is first person, but players have the option to experiment with in third person function. The core gameplay revolves around placing and breaking blocks. The overall game world comprises rough 3D objects--mainly cubes--arranged in a set grid pattern and representing different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, lava, tree trunks, etc. While players can move openly around the world, objects can only be positioned at resolved locations on the grid. Players can get these materials place and blocks them somewhere else, thus allowing for various constructions.In the beginning of the game, the gamer is positioned on the top of any procedurally produced and practically infinite game world. The global world is divided into biomes which range from deserts to jungles to snowfield. Players can walk across the terrain consisting of plains, mountains, forests, caves, and various water bodies. The in-game time system uses a full night and day cycle, with one full pattern sustained 20 real-time minutes. Through the entire course of the game, players face various non-player personas known as mobs, including family pets, villagers and hostile animals. Non-hostile animals--such as cows, pigs, and chickens--can be hunted for food and crafting materials, and spawn in the day time. By contrast, hostile mobs--such as large spiders, skeletons, and zombies--spawn during nighttime or in dark places, such as caves. Some Minecraft-unique creatures have been known by reviewers, like the Creeper, an exploding creature that sneaks up on the ball player; and the Enderman, a creature with the ability to teleport and pick up blocks.
