Minecraft is a sandbox video game originally created by Swedish game designer Markus "Notch" Persson, and developed and posted by Mojang later. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft enable players to develop constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally made world. Alternative activities in the overall game include exploration, tool gathering, crafting, and combat. Multiple gameplay methods are available, including survival method where in fact the player must acquire resources to build the world and keep maintaining health, a creative mode where players have unlimited resources to make with and the capability to fly, an excitement mode where players can play custom maps created by other players, and a spectator method where players can take flight around and clip through blocks, but cannot place or eliminate any. The Laptop or computer version of the overall game is noted because of its modding scene, in which a dedicated community creates new gameplay technicians, items, and belongings for the game.Minecraft received reward from critics after release, and earned numerous accolades and honours. As of 2016 June, over 106 million copies have been sold across all platforms, with more than 40 million unique players every month, making it the best-selling PC game thus far and the second best-selling gaming of all right time, only behind the various releases of Tetris. In 2014 September, Microsoft declared a package to buy Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion, with the acquisition later being completed two months.

Minecraft is a three-dimensional sandbox game that has no specific goals for the player to perform, allowing players a great amount of freedom in choosing how to learn the gameHowever, there is an achievement system. Gameplay by default is first person, but players have the option to try out in third person function. The core gameplay revolves around breaking and positioning blocks. The game world is composed of rough 3D objects--mainly cubes--arranged in a set grid pattern and representing different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, lava, tree trunks, etc. While players can move easily across the world, objects can only just be positioned at predetermined locations on the grid. Players can accumulate these material blocks and place them somewhere else, thus allowing for various constructions. In the beginning of the game, the ball player is located on the surface of the procedurally produced and nearly infinite game world. The global world is split into biomes ranging from deserts to jungles to snowfield. Players can walk over the terrain comprising plains, mountains, forests, caves, and various water bodies. The in-game time system comes after a night and day pattern, with one full cycle sustained 20 real-time minutes. Through the entire course of the overall game, players face various non-player individuals known as mobs, including family pets, villagers and hostile animals. Non-hostile animals--such as cows, pigs, and chickens--can be hunted for food and crafting materials, and spawn in the day time. In comparison, hostile mobs--such as large spiders, skeletons, and zombies--spawn during nighttime or in dark places, such as caves. Some Minecraft-unique animals have been mentioned by reviewers, including the Creeper, an exploding creature that sneaks up on the gamer; and the Enderman, a creature having the ability to teleport and grab blocks.
