Minecraft is a sandbox video game originally created by Swedish game designer Markus "Notch" Persson, and later developed and released by Mojang. The creative and building areas of Minecraft enable players to develop constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally made world. Other activities in the game include exploration, source of information gathering, crafting, and fight. In 2014 September, Microsoft declared a package to buy Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion, with the acquisition being completed two months later.

Minecraft is a three-dimensional sandbox game that has no specific goals for the ball player to accomplish, allowing players a great amount of flexibility in choosing how to try out the gameHowever, there can be an achievements system. Gameplay by default is first person, but players have the option to experience in third person function. The core gameplay revolves around breaking and putting blocks. The game world is composed of rough 3D objects--mainly cubes--arranged in a set grid pattern and representing different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, lava, tree trunks, etc. While players can move widely across the world, objects can only just be located at resolved locations on the grid. Players can gather these materials blocks and place them in other places, enabling various constructions thus.At the start of the game, the gamer is placed on the top of the procedurally produced and virtually infinite game world. The planet is divided into biomes which range from deserts to jungles to snowfield. Players can walk across the terrain comprising plains, mountains, forests, caves, and different water bodies. The in-game time system employs a full day and night circuit, with one full pattern enduring 20 real-time minutes. Through the entire course of the game, players encounter various non-player heroes known as mobs, including pets or animals, villagers and hostile animals. Non-hostile animals--such as cows, pigs, and chickens--can be hunted for food and crafting materials, and spawn in the daytime. By contrast, hostile mobs--such as large spiders, skeletons, and zombies--spawn during nighttime or in dark places, such as caves. Some Minecraft-unique creatures have been observed by reviewers, such as the Creeper, an exploding creature that sneaks through to the participant; and the Enderman, a creature with the ability to teleport and grab blocks.
