Minecraft is a sandbox gaming formerly created by Swedish game developer Markus "Notch" Persson, and later developed and shared by Mojang. The creative and building aspects of Minecraft permit players to develop constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally made world. Alternative activities in the game include exploration, learning resource gathering, crafting, and fight. Multiple gameplay methods are available, including survival mode where the player must acquire resources to construct the global world and keep maintaining health, a creative mode where players have unlimited resources to generate with and the ability to fly, an excitement method where players can play custom maps created by other players, and a spectator mode where players can soar around and clip through blocks, but cannot place or kill any. The Laptop or computer version of the game is noted for its modding scene, in which a dedicated community creates new gameplay technicians, items, and belongings for the game.Minecraft received compliment from critics upon release, and triumphed in numerous honours and accolades. As of 2016 June, over 106 million copies have been sold across all platforms, with an increase of than 40 million unique players every month, rendering it the best-selling PC game as of yet and the second best-selling video game of all right time, only behind the various releases of Tetris.
