Minecraft is a sandbox gaming originally created by Swedish game custom made Markus "Notch" Persson, and developed and printed by Mojang later. The creative and building areas of Minecraft allow players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D procedurally generated world. Other activities in the game include exploration, learning resource gathering, crafting, and combat. Multiple gameplay modes are available, including survival mode where the player must acquire resources to build the global world and maintain health, a creative mode where players have unlimited resources to make with and the capability to fly, an adventure setting where players can play custom maps created by other players, and a spectator method where players can journey around and clip through blocks, but cannot place or ruin any. The Personal computer version of the game is noted because of its modding scene, where a dedicated community creates new gameplay mechanics, items, and assets for the overall game.Minecraft received compliment from critics upon release, and earned numerous prizes and accolades. As of 2016 June, over 106 million copies have been sold across all platforms, with an increase of than 40 million unique players every month, rendering it the best-selling PC game as of yet and the second best-selling gaming of all right time, only behind the various releases of Tetris. In 2014 September, Microsoft announced a package to buy Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion, with the acquisition being completed two months later.

Minecraft is a three-dimensional sandbox game that has no specific goals for the player to accomplish, allowing players plenty of independence in choosing how to try out the gameHowever, there can be an success system. Gameplay by default is first person, but players have the choice to try out in third person setting. The core gameplay revolves around breaking and inserting blocks. The game world is composed of rough 3D objects--mainly cubes--arranged in a set grid pattern and representing different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, lava, tree trunks, etc. While players can move around the world freely, objects can only be located at fixed locations on the grid. Players can collect these materials blocks and place them elsewhere, thus enabling various constructions. In the very beginning of the game, the ball player is positioned on the surface of the procedurally made and almost infinite game world. The planet is split into biomes ranging from deserts to jungles to snowfield. Players can walk across the terrain consisting of plains, mountains, forests, caves, and various water bodies. The in-game time system practices a complete day and night pattern, with one full routine long lasting 20 real-time minutes. Through the entire course of the game, players come across various non-player personas known as mobs, including pets, villagers and hostile animals. Non-hostile animals--such as cows, pigs, and chickens--can be hunted for crafting and food materials, and spawn in the day time. In comparison, hostile mobs--such as large spiders, skeletons, and zombies--spawn during nighttime or in dark places, such as caves. Some Minecraft-unique creatures have been observed by reviewers, such as the Creeper, an exploding creature that sneaks up on the player; and the Enderman, a creature with the ability to teleport and pick up blocks.
