Minecraft is a three-dimensional sandbox game that has no specific goals for the gamer to accomplish, allowing players plenty of flexibility in choosing how to try out the gameHowever, there can be an achievements system. Gameplay by default is first person, but players have the choice to experiment with in third person mode. The core gameplay revolves around placing and breaking blocks. The overall game world comprises rough 3D objects--mainly cubes--arranged in a fixed grid pattern and representing different materials, such as dirt, stone, various ores, water, lava, tree trunks, etc. While players can move widely across the world, objects can only be located at preset locations on the grid. Players can gather these materials place and blocks them anywhere else, thus enabling various constructions. In the beginning of the game, the player is placed on the top of any procedurally generated and almost infinite game world. The global world is split into biomes which range from deserts to jungles to snowfield. Players can walk across the terrain consisting of plains, mountains, forests, caves, and different water bodies. The in-game time system employs a complete day and night cycle, with one full routine sustained 20 real-time minutes. Throughout the course of the game, players face various non-player people known as mobs, including family pets, villagers and hostile creatures. Non-hostile animals--such as cows, pigs, and chickens--can be hunted for food and crafting materials, and spawn in the day time. By contrast, hostile mobs--such as large spiders, skeletons, and zombies--spawn during nighttime or in dark places, such as caves. Some Minecraft-unique animals have been observed by reviewers, such as the Creeper, an exploding creature that sneaks through to the gamer; and the Enderman, a creature having the ability to teleport and pick up blocks.
